Beginning Sunday September 2nd – Old Testament Survey

The class will begin Sunday, September 2nd and will meet in the fellowship hall. Come at 9:00 a.m. for coffee and fellowship before class begins at 9:15.

Covenant Core Curriculum

Four core courses are taught on a rotating basis to equip the saints to understand and defend the hope we have in Jesus Christ and to live our faith in our daily walk before a watching world.

Old Testament Survey - A Journey through the Old Testament

Old Testament Survey is a year long study of God’s Holy Word. Beginning in Genesis God reveals his holy perfections – His sovereignty, justice and wrath are displayed as well as His love, mercy and grace. God’s response to mankind’s disobedience in the garden prefigures His redemptive plan for His chosen people. As the study progresses through the Historical books, the Wisdom Literature and Poetry and into the Prophetic books, the stage is set for the coming Messiah who is seen in types and shadows throughout the Old Testament. Each book as well as the major themes will be discussed. Participants are encouraged to read the entire Old Testament during the year.

New Testament Survey - The Mystery Revealed in Jesus Christ

Through Old Testament Survey we saw the progressive revelation of God’s redemptive plan for His people. In the New Testament that plan comes to complete fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Each book as well as the major themes will be discussed and students will be expected to read the New Testament during the year.

Church History - What God Has Done with His People

If all of history is ultimately the work of a sovereign God then we must learn and know of it. Psalm 77:11 tells us: “I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

What God has done with His people throughout the ages is Church History.

The Church History class will study the great events, ideas and people that God has used to do His will, from the Ascension of Christ and Pentecost to the present. How did the Church get to the where it is now? If we are God’s children then Church History is the story of our family.

Systematic Theology - An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine

Do you know what the Bible teaches about the nature of God, the person and work of Christ, sin, salvation, or end times? This class will explain and equip by laying a foundation of theological understanding concerning these and other crucial doctrines. You’ll benefit from the strong emphasis on the Scriptural basis of each doctrine, how these doctrines are intertwined throughout our confession of faith, and how they apply to everyday living. Lessons

Scripture Alone - We affirm the inerrant Scripture to be the sole source of written divine revelation, which alone can bind the conscience. The Bible alone teaches all that is necessary for our salvation from sin and is the standard by which all Christian behavior must be measured.

Christ Alone - We affirm that our salvation is accomplished only by the mediatorial work of the historical Christ on the cross. His sinless life and substitutionary atonement alone are sufficient for our justification and our reconciliation to the Father.

Grace Alone - We affirm that in salvation we are rescued from God’s wrath by His grace alone, apart from any human merit. It is the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit that brings us to Christ by releasing us from our bondage to sin and raising us from spiritual death to spiritual life.

Faith Alone - We affirm that our justification is received by faith alone, apart from any human work. In justification, God pardons the sinner and declares us righteous in his sight by imputing our sin to Christ, and by imputing Christ’s righteousness to us.

To God Alone be the Glory - We affirm that because our salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, and because of Christ alone, it is for God’s glory alone – and that we must glorify Him in all things. We endeavor, therefore, to live our lives before the face of God, under His authority.

*We embrace the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 as a faithful expression of the doctrine taught in the Scriptures.

Teaching Younger Women

Titus 2:4-5 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things – that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

Understanding the Scriptures

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Loving God and Others

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ ” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ “

Colossians 4:5–6 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. [1 Peter 3:15]

Praying Always

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
